Autumn Term

Go with the flow

This term we have been studying rivers.

We have studied local rivers, rivers in the UK and rivers around the world. Our visit to Ashford reservoir supported learning and helped the pupils understand about water cleaning and transport.

We explore the factory, learnt about the cleaning process and walked the perimeter of the reservoir. We explored the environment as a habitat and looked for evidence of different species living there.

See Autumn Gallery for more pictures.

As part of the project we also looked at bridge design and engineering. After completing research we designed and built our own! Check the gallery for our finished products.

Art

Following a study of Constable, who focused on painting everyday places that were special to him, the children created art based on places that they have special memories of. Many chose their homes or holiday locations that they have enjoyed with family. We also focused on perspective and learnt about vanishing points and drawing buildings using perspective. See our art work in the gallery.

Christmas DT

Near the end of term we created Christmas decorations to meet a design brief. The pieces had to:

  • Hang / clip on to the tree
  • Look like a festive character
  • Be strong
  • Include a peg

The children worked hard to produce some great results. Check them out in the gallery.
