YEAR 3 CAMPING 2011

You know it's time for the camp-out when you see Mrs Nash scurrying about hiding ASDA bags in class 2`s shed!

Last year we chose the wettest, windiest night of the whole term for our camp-out!

This year the forecast was similar – but this did not deter Mrs Nash or year 3! Fortunately the weather held (although Mr MacRae did say it was little chilly in the night!!) and so a dry evening meant that all the activities could go ahead.

While Mrs Nash took charge or erecting the tents.

Mr MacRae pruned and wove the willow structures

Mrs Brown led the quick-cricket

And Mrs Evans had the children lighting fires using a steel and sheep's wool (with suitable fire safety instruction of course!)

Once the tents were all sorted, the children then had to cook their own tea…..AND do their own washing up!!

After this it was time for Mr MacRae and Mrs Nash to demonstrate their fire-lighting skills (thank you Mrs Evans for ensuring all materials were to hand!), with each child helping.

Hot chocolate and toasted marsh mallows all round.

The next morning the tidying up started bright and early and all children had had breakfast, packed away and were ready to go by start of lessons. The Staff too!

As the children had not been able to bring their usual packed lunch that morning the day continued with them preparing their own lunches!

I BIG thank you to Mrs Nash for organising the event. She was still smiling at lunchtime!
