TAG RUGBY

On Thursday 19th June 2008 pupils from year 5 and 6 from Enmore Primary School took part in a Tag Rugby Festival.

We entered two teams: one was in Pool A and the other in Pool B. Both teams won all their matches and finally were drawn against each other in the semi final. Because both teams were wearing the same shirts Enmore B had to turn their shirts inside out. It was a very close game with a final score of 6-4 to Enmore A.

They went into the final against Nether Stowey. Twenty seconds into the game Nether Stowey took a one Try lead! However Enmore pulled it back to finish with a win, 3-2. We were very happy about the victory, both teams had put a lot of effort into it. The trophy that we won was a model of a rugby boot and ball.

On the 20th March 2008 Jack Dray, Imogen Setter, Mary King, Eloise Cowen, George Konstam, Ben Coombes, and Jack Coles from year 6 travelled to Haygrove School for an afternoon of tag rugby fun! Enmore was one of 7 schools represented from the area.

The afternoon began with skills sessions, led by young sports leaders from Haygrove. They took the children through a series of exercises and drills that helped them develop their understanding of the game and warm them up for the matches ahead. They practised passing, tagging, and even a few scrum tactics! They also realised the stamina needed to play for an extended period of time.

After a short break, the children moved in to the tournament phase of the afternoon, where they played four matches against other schools. The Enmore team won each of those matches and worked very well together. They drew Netherstowey in the final, which was a nail-biting game for all those on the side lines! Both teams played brilliantly, and the match ended in a draw. Well done to the team, who now move on to another tournament for schools in the county, and thank you to all the family and friends who turned out to show their support.
