Our first ever “French Day” was held on Thursday 28th. June 2007. Everyone came to school dressed in red, white and blue with added berets, moustaches and strings of onions! The school hall was transformed into a French Bistro where the children were able to try out their French, sample cheeses, pates, olives garlic sausage and more!
However their first task was to make a French passport to grant them entry!
Once inside they were able to learn more about the French way of life and experience a variety of smells associated with France– from garlic to lavender.
There were opportunities for them to look at artists’ work and create their own masterpieces. A French visitor (Emanuel) was on hand to read and converse with the children in his native language.
At playtimes the children tried out “Boulles” on the school field.
At the end of the day the whole school enjoyed singing French songs together.
Here is what some of the children thought about the day.
