The Bishop of Bath and Wells

As part of our Bicentenary Celebrations the Bishop of Bath and Wells came to visit us.

First he looked around the school

Then we did a presentation for him in the hall. Mr MacRae introduced the afternoon.

Then Class2 recited the poem The Months written my Sara Coleridge. Sara lived from 1802 – 1852 and was the wife of Henry Coleridge who was a friend of the Reverend Poole. Reverend Poole is the founder of Enmore School. It is said that Henry Coleridge visited the school.

The Months

January brings the snow Makes our feet and finger glow.

February brings the rain Thaws the frozen ponds again.

March brings breezes loud and shrill Stirs the dancing daffodil.

April brings the primrose sweet Scatters daisies at our feet.

May brings flocks of pretty lambs Skipping with their fleecy dams.

June brings tulips, lilies, roses Fills the childrens`hands with posies.

Hot July brings cooling showers Apricots and gilly-flowers.

August brings the sheaves of corn Then the harvest home is borne.

Warm September brings the fruit Sportsmen then begin to shoot.

Fresh October brings the pheasant Then to gather nuts is pleasant.

Dull November brings the blast Then the leaves are whirling fast.

Chill December brings the sleet Blazing fire and Christmas treat.

Class 2 had done some lovely art work which was linked to the poem. Each child then stood up and spoke about their art and gave us some interesting facts about each month.

Members of Class 6 read out historical details that related to the school.

Then Bishop then spoke to us all.

After that The Bishop then presented everyone with a special Coin that had been made for the School by the Royal Mint.

Finally there was an informal lunch under the canopy outside the hall.
